BRASSE VANNIE KAAP
The group was created out of hands that came from the heart of the Cape Flats. Moulded into a structure that would wipe out the fact that all people on the flats are gangsters, klopse, and confused - stereotypes if you put it in normal terms. Vision came with focus and the journey took active mode. Operation love yourself, know thyself and be a somebody became priority. Schools are where the youth find themselves so that was B.V.K.’s no. 1 stop, pause on that part. B.V.K. had a plan and still do as far as love thyself is concerned. They do their music/artform in Kaaprikaans (cape flats dialect), it’ll trigger self pride.
Then, to create a following with the aim of educating the youth to be future leaders, knowledge of self would help to cut out stereotypical behaviour. Release the pause button to play the epic further. School carnivals were a great testing ground for B.V.K., the project. Carnivals were full of cover acts that fed the youth with fakeness. Original act in more ways that 1 gave B.V.K. a valid reason to perform, conquer and recreate. Youth was smiling in realness and the American stigma attached to them was fading slowly. B.V.K. moved from strength to strength, from school carnivals, community projects, corporate events, all major universities, SA festivals to international performances.
